Uploading Files to the TTS FTP Site

The following method works only with Internet Explorer v6.x and Mozilla/FireFox:

  1. Use winzip or stuffit to compress your files and folders so that only a single file is being uploaded. The ftp server will not allow you to transfer directories.
  2. Point your web browser to: ftp://ftp.techtranslation.com/
  3. Double-click on the incoming directory.
  4. Double-click on the "clients_upload_here" directory.
  5. Drag and drop the file that you want to upload into this window.
  6. The file transfer should proceed automatically.
  7. When it is done, you should be able to see your file in the window (note: you will not actually be able to download or open your file from our FTP server).
  8. Please be sure that your filename does not conflict with one already on the server, as the upload will not work.
  9. Send an e-mail to tts@techtranslation.com indicating the file name that you have placed onto the server.

If using Internet Explorer v7.x, please perform the following steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer 7.
  2. In the address bar, type ftp.techtranslation.com
  3. IE 7 will display a list of files and folders from the FTP domain.
  4. Click the "page" menu button on the top right hand side of the browser window, and select the option "Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer".
  5. You can now drag and drop into the incoming folder.

The following method should be used if the first method did not work, and you are unable to upgrade your web browser:

  1. Use winzip or stuffit to compress your files and folders so that only a single file is being uploaded. The ftp server will not allow you to transfer directories.
  2. This method requires the use of an FTP client such as FileZilla. FileZilla is a completely free program which you can download and install from: www.techtranslation.com/ftp/filezilla/ . Installation is straight-forward, but if you have any trouble please feel free to contact us.
  3. Create a new site/session, with the following information:
    • Name: Technical Translation Services
    • Host: ftp.techtranslation.com
    • Anonymous login (login name: anonymous, password: your@emailaddress.com)
  4. Connect to the site/session you just created, and follow directions 2-8 from the first method.
